A high-intensity explosion rocked the vicinity of Delhi’s historic Red Fort on the evening of Monday, November 10, 2025, resulting in the tragic deaths of at least eight people and leaving twenty others injured. The blast occurred around 6:52 PM IST in a slow-moving Hyundai i20 near the Red Fort Metro Station traffic signal, an area highly congested during peak hours.

The detonation, described by eyewitnesses as extremely powerful, instantly turned the vehicle into mangled wreckage, causing widespread panic and scattered debris. The event immediately triggered a massive response, with Delhi Police, Fire Services, and specialized anti-terror units rapidly cordoning off the area and transporting the injured to nearby hospitals.

The incident is being probed from all angles, particularly due to its chilling temporal proximity to a major security haul earlier the same day. Hours before the Red Fort blast, authorities in Faridabad, Haryana, seized a staggering 2,900 kilograms of explosive material, including 350 kilograms of ammonium nitrate. This discovery was linked to the questioning of doctors arrested from Jammu and Kashmir, suggesting a possible wide-ranging terror conspiracy.

The investigation into the exploded vehicle revealed it had Haryana registration plates and was quickly traced back through several owners to a man from Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. National Security Guard (NSG) and National Investigation Agency (NIA) teams were dispatched to the blast site to collect forensic evidence and determine the exact nature of the explosive used. Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the site and hospital, confirming that all possibilities, including a terror link, remain open.

Following the attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep condolences and reviewed the security situation with top officials. A state-wide high alert was issued across Delhi, with security measures also enhanced in cities like Mumbai and across poll-bound Bihar, underscoring the serious security implications of the incident. The authorities are now relying on forensic analysis and CCTV footage to piece together the events and identify those responsible for the deadly explosion.
